In Relic Runners you are a fearless Explorer, traveling the jungle in search of lost temples full of forgotten treasures and relics. Armed with nothing more than your trusty Pith Helmet and a nose for rare antiquities you’ll explore Temple Ruins and Shrines and undertake Expeditions in a race to unearth the most treasure!

Designed by newcomer Matthew Dunstan, Relic Runners is a new large-format board game. Players follow trails across the jungle board map as they explore stacks of temples and ruins, ultimately hoping to uncover precious relics and earn victory points.

Players work to efficiently manage their resources: building pathways; making sure to carry sufficient Rations; and expand their Explorer’s Toolbox to help them explore, resupply, take additional actions, and score bonuses. Skillful planning will lead to a successful expedition as they travel their pathways to capture valuable relics.

Relic Runners features a richly-illustrated jungle board map and beautiful Temple and Ruins tiles, plus 20 highly-detailed Sculpted Relics. For 2-5 players, ages 10+, it takes approximately 40-80 minutes to play. Relic Runners is expected to be available worldwide in September, at a retail price of $60/€50. As the very first board game available the day the iPad launched, Small World pioneered a whole new world of board games on tablets. It earned critical acclaim and hordes of devoted players, but aside from a few mini-expansions, barely changed since its launch. But for the past year our development team in Paris has been working on a “from-the-ground-up” rewrite of the game; and Small World 2 – a brand new version with 3-5 player maps, asynchronous online play, the Be Not Afraid expansion and more – will be available on the iPad later this summer.

Whenever we mention iPad, we get comments along the lines of, “Android! Android! And what about my PC?!” Well, our new Small World 2 Kickstarter campaign is your chance to make this happen. If we reach our $150,000 goal, we will release Small World 2 on Android and Kindle Fire tablets, and onto Steam PCs, all within the next 12 months.

To encourage everyone – not just Android tablet and PC users – to pledge in this campaign, we’ve come up with rewards of interest to all players of Small World, both the digital and cardboard version. Philippe Keyaerts, the author of the game, has created new Races and Special Powers specially for Kickstarter backers and devised a new super-sized, 6 player cardboard map of Small World and Small World Underground.

Our Art and Production departments have also been busy laying out a Pocket Encyclopedia of Small World; printing a new Small World t-shirt; and putting the finishing touches on a spare-no-expense, deluxe Designer Edition of Small World – signed by the author and engraved with your name!

Small World was the first board game EVER on the iPad – if you were one of those who waited in line at your Apple store that day, you could start playing the minute you got home. Fans and critics alike loved it. But our development team quickly turned their focus onto Ticket to Ride for iPad making it look like we had abandoned Small World.

Not so… Small World 2 for iPad is now well underway and it will ship later this year; but we want to make this more than just a simple upgrade.  We have tons of ideas for add-ons to the project – not just more features and expansions, but also new platforms to support – and some really cool swag to complement the board game.

On the digital side, we’re already well underway in adding the 3-5 player maps, online network play with a brand new asynchronous server and more. With support from the Kickstarter community and our fan base, we hope to make these new features available as a free upgrade to all existing Small World for iPad players.  And we’d like to go even further – developing additional expansions such as Realms or Small World Underground (Be Not Afraid… is already in the works); and adding support for many more digital platforms, such as Steam and Android.

On the boardgame side, we’ve got some insanely fun game components that we’ve been dreaming of producing for years, but simply couldn’t justify producing, including Philippe Keyaerts’ very own deluxe tokens; an over-the-top, over-sized Small World Designer Edition; finely detailed 3D figures of our favorite Small World races; and more…

But the only way we can produce these expensive add-ons is if we know precisely how many to make. And your Kickstarter pledge levels will tell us exactly that, as well as how many additional digital expansions and platforms we can justify supporting.
